One of the flagship projects that Carlick has undertaken in 2020 is supplying the furniture for the amenity space within the huge new 20 storey, 872 bedroom student accommodation located in the centre of Coventry, Weaver Place.Working alongside the team at Self Architects, Carlick was tasked with the manufacture and installation of several standout bespoke joinery pieces as well as the client’s loose furniture requirements.The design took inspiration from a number of elements from the city’s history. For instance, the Coffantree is the tree in which Coventry grew around back when it was a Saxon village. Built from ply, the tree and its roots can be found weaving their way through the building.Above the tailor-made reception desk features a stunning timber trellis with interwoven rope. This is inspired by Coventry’s history as a weaving town and it also incorporates the iconic Coventry blue.The gymnasium is illuminated by bespoke lighting with upholstered baffles fanned out around the central feature piece constructed in ply carrying on the theme of layered timber throughout the scheme.The loose furniture was also manufactured and supplied by Carlick Contract Furniture following the various themes that run through the building.To see more of our projects click here.
